Birth is a disastrous event: The problem of birth in Cioran's philosophy

Abstract

The research aims to introduce the problematic that represents the cornerstone of Cioran's philosophy, which is the issue of birth. The primary hypothesis it adopts is that birth constitutes the starting point for all other issues, such as pain and death; without birth, humanity would not know any other tragedy. In this context, it addresses women as the primary responsible party for the event of birth, in addition to discussing everything related to women and birth, such as the bond of love, which he sees as the best connection that preserves the status of women. In contrast, marriage is viewed as detrimental, as it undermines the highest human feeling, which is love. Ultimately, it arrives at a rejection of birth, even if that requires legitimizing abortion, in order to achieve the ultimate goal of the extinction of the human race.
