About the Journal

Derna University Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences (DUJHSS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by the University of Derna, Libya. The journal publishes twice a year and is dedicated to advancing high-quality research and scientific knowledge in the humanities and social sciences.

DUJHSS welcomes original research articles and review articles that demonstrate scientific originality, methodological rigour, and clear relevance to its core disciplines. Its scope includes Management and Economics, English Language, Education and Psychology, Sociology, Geography, Law, Media, and Arabic Language.

Mission

The journal aims to provide a rigorous scholarly platform for researchers and academics to publish and disseminate their scientific output in accordance with sound research standards. It seeks to strengthen scientific communication and research collaboration at the local, Arab, and international levels, while addressing contemporary human and social issues.

DUJHSS is committed to promoting scientific integrity, ethical publishing practices, and respect for intellectual property rights throughout the editorial and publication process.

The journal considers original and review manuscripts that contribute meaningfully to the humanities and social sciences. Peer Review and Publication Ethics

All submissions undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for the journal and compliance with its submission requirements. Manuscripts that meet the initial criteria are then evaluated through a rigorous peer-review process conducted by qualified academic reviewers.

The journal requires that submitted manuscripts be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors are responsible for compliance with the journal’s policies on authorship, plagiarism, conflicts of interest, research ethics, and responsible use of research tools.

Indexing, Access, and Identification

DUJHSS is a Diamond Open Access journal: it does not charge publication fees to authors and provides free access to its published articles.

The journal holds legal deposit number (37/2023) with the National Book House in Benghazi and carries the International Standard Serial Number ISSN: 2959-6483. It has an Arab Impact Factor of 0.84, is accredited by the Publications Department of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, and is an official member of Crossref, with all published articles assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs).

DUJHSS is indexed in Google Scholar, the Jordanian Ma’aref databases, Dar Almandumah in Saudi Arabia, and the African Journals Online (AJOL) directory.
