An economic study of the development of wheat production and marketing in the Syrian province of Hasaka During the period (2017-2021)

Abstract

The wheat crop is one of the most important strategic crops in the Syrian Arab Republic because it plays an important role in supporting the national economy, securing food, providing foreign exchange, and securing raw materials for some national industries with the aim of achieving self-sufficiency. It is one of the important strategic crops in bridging the food gap resulting from high the standard of living on the one hand, and the increase in the population on the other hand, and wheat occupies the first place in the cultivated areas in Al-Hasakah Governorate.  This crop from the farmers' point of view, and the research showed that there is a decrease in productivity and a decrease in production despite the increase in the areas planted with this crop, and costs and prices increased significantly during the studied period.
