يُعد هيبوداموس الميليتي من أبرز رواد التخطيط الحضري في التاريخ الإغريقي القديم، وينسب له تأسيس مبادئ التخطيط الشبكي التي تعد نقلة نوعية في تنظيم المدن. ارتكز فكره على دمج الأبعاد الفلسفية والاجتماعية مع الهندسة العمرانية، إذ عد المدينة كيانًا متكاملاً يجمع بين السياسة والاقتصاد والحياة الاجتماعية. بحثت هذه الدراسة في السياق التاريخي والفكري الذي أتاح لهيبوداموس صياغة نظرياته، مع التركيز على تطبيقاته العملية في مدن مثل ميليتوس وبيرايوس، وتأثيره على التخطيط الحضري في العصور الهلنستية والرومانية. كما تناولت الإرث النفسي والاجتماعي لنموذج التخطيط الشبكي وأثره في تعزيز الهوية الجماعية وجودة الحياة. أخيرًا، أظهرت الدراسة استدامة أفكار هيبوداموس في التخطيط العصري المستدام، مما يؤكد حداثة أفكاره.
